Located in the eastern province of Sri Lanka, Shalom Estate is blessed with a fresh water-body that flows through it known as Thona.

This land is graded by the department of Agriculture of Sri Lanka as one of the most fertile of soils which facilitates the production of the best vegetation.

The objective of this initiative is to create a sustainable environment that supports the growth of indigenous flora and fauna, while promoting eco-friendliness. Shalom estate aims to empower the local community to achieve self-sufficiency and educate and motivate small-scale farmers on sustainable practices.

Shalom Estate is blessed with a fresh water body with a high ground water table that provides water for irrigation all year round.

A natural water body known as a Thona [natural waterways that carry excess rain water to the sea] bisects the property. This keeps the ground water table high.

The estate provides employment opportunities to the locals, with a significant focus on empowering women who make up 80% of the workforce of which a large part are single mothers and widows.

To further promote sustainable practices, we are partnering with Eastern University to design a curriculum and offer apprenticeship programs to young people.
